Rip-off artist Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) and his sexy conspirator, Sydney (Amy Adams) team up to con people out of their money, having little mercy on those who they dupe. But things heat up when FBI agent, Richie DiMaso, (Bradley Cooper) comes on the scene, ready to take action and bring down the thieves. Instead slick Richie wants to make a name for himself in the FBI and aims to get the wayward couple to hustle undercover and play a dangerous powerful scam with New Jersey politicians as well as the Mob. Events don’t run as smoothly as Richie would like however, when he falls for the sexy Sydney and has to deal with the fact that she is Irving’s mistress.  And added to the mix is Irving’s wife, Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) who plays a game of her own. As things heat up, one will be guessing just who is playing who? It’s hard to wonder who to root for.

The first half hour of this movie was dull and at first I wondered if we had wasted our time and money. But then Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper) came on the scene and things got a whole lot more interesting. This crime drama had a funny flair all of its own and I found Richie DiMaso hilarious. Shockingly, Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) did a good job of appearing as an overweight underachiever. But all in all, this cast of interesting and well known characters did their part to bring this film together and made me glad at the end that I shared a couple of hours with them.

My name is Jon. For 9 months I’ve been sober, or maybe not quite. There was a time when I had to detox from the opiates I was addicted too. I was given morphine to help me with the withdrawal symptoms. My hands would tremble. I didn’t want to eat. My reflexes were slow. I had trouble sleeping. In the hospital I needed to stay in a dimly lit environment. I was cranky.  Noise bothered me. I didn’t understand what my body was going through. I just knew I didn’t feel good. So I would arch my back and scream in frustration. Even the arms that tried to hold me through my bad days brought me little peace. But in time I started to feel better. I even learned to smile,

My name is Jon and today I am nine months old. Today I am nine months sober.

Babies are born every day to drug addicted mothers. If you are pregnant, please seek medical help so that your baby can have the best possible chance for survival. Don’t lie to the people who only have you and your baby’s best interest at heart. Don’t let your child suffer because of  bad choices. Take the first step and get help. You have nine months to give your baby the best chance for a healthy beginning.

 

Jon has a bright future. But he suffered needlessly because of a neglectful parent.  

Don’t make the same mistakes his mother made.

The Color of Home by Rich Marcello

Nick Satterborn is on a mission. He is mesmerized by the beautiful, elusive Sassa Vikander, determined to get into her head and find out what makes her tick. Determination pays off when Sassa is slowly exposed piece by piece as Nick falls fast in love with her and the two finally move in together. Although the currents that bind them run deep, Sassa has scars, not only physically from a car accident but deep in her expressive soul. But Nick’s determination to find a way to make the relationship last keeps him preoccupied with seeds of doubt. Will their love survive over the test of time?  Or can true love prevail in a world that all too often calls it quits?

 

The Color of Home by Rich Marcello is a captivating love story between soul mates destined to live together as one.  Good food, wine and music are abundant in this heart felt tale set in New York. The author did a great job of digging into the heart and souls of his characters and bringing them to life. Also compelling is the atmosphere in which they find one another and the deep seated conversations that bind the gaps between the pair. The Color of Home is an ideal love story that takes a reader far from the physical aspects of a relationship and instead brings into play the love that truly binds those who were meant to be. A good read by a talented writer.

Tara Gibbons lives with her father and was between jobs until she was hired by Cole Wilson at the garage he had opened a year earlier in Limerick, Pennsylvania. Now, she was picking up wrecked cars like the red Corvette being driven by Wendy Carl. What she didn’t know was that someone else had been at the scene before her, and that this person would turn her world upside down. As she started to fall for her employer Cole, she would become embroiled in a series of events that she would struggle to understand. Cole Wilson had a thriving business, but he also had a dark past that he tried to keep quiet, that was until a mysterious stranger walked back into his life. Who was this person? Why does he have such an effect on Cole? And why can he not confide in anyone, even Tara? These questions will push Tara and Cole to the limit and ultimately threaten their very lives. 

Set in the small town of Limerick, Pennsylvania, this suspense thriller by Tamara Lawrence had me guessing from the very first page. The main characters of Tara, Cole and of course the mysterious stranger, are written beautifully. They are well-rounded and are people you can really care about. That doesn’t mean the other characters are any less interesting. They each plays an integral part in the story. In fact this goes for the whole story, nothing is brushed over or incomplete. So I needed to pay attention to all the details as there is little given away. The story builds nicely from the start and sets a good pace so that you aren’t bored. The chapters are also well-thought-out so that you are left with a bit of a cliff hanger that makes you want to keep reading. The showdown is pitched very well so that you feel all the ends are tied up. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed "Wrecker" by Tamera Lawrence, "Wrecker" is a wonderfully written suspense thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

This cat and mouse tale is a maze of wonder, discomfort, and pain. For terror and truth lies around every corner. What can seem like heaven at first, can become your own private hell. Take a taste and see for yourself. Perhaps you will examine your own sin...:)
